In case of a heat wave

Effective from June 5 to September 13, 2025

To ensure the well-being of its employees and visitors, management and the occupational health and safety committee at the Village historique acadien have implemented a heat wave policy for 2019.
This regulation stipulates that the historic site may be closed in the event of a heatwave.
If the historic site closes on the day of your visit due to extreme weather conditions, a refund will automatically be granted:
  • customers who purchase their tickets on site on the same day;
  • customers who have purchased their tickets online, and whose visit date is the day of the heat wave closure.

Frequently Asked Questions

Depending on your pace and enthusiasm, a typical visit can range between 4 and 12 hours. Please note that your entrance fee to the site is valid for two visits within the current season, so you may come back on another day to finish visiting the site if need be. Please note that the price of admission to the Village includes a 2-day visit. See admission rates HERE.

Good walking shoes, sunscreen, mosquito repellent, a bottle of water and weather-appropriate clothing will make your visit unforgettable! It’s also important for people with allergies to farm animals, pollen and hay to bring their own medication.

Please note that sunscreen, bottled water, mosquito repellent and umbrellas are on sale at the Village Welcome Centre, should you need them.

The Village tour is self-guided. Instead of having a guide with you at all times, guides are located in each building on the historic site. With them, you can move at your own pace and enjoy each place for as long as you like.

WIFI is available free of charge in all restaurants on the historic site, as well as at the Hôtel Château Albert.

Absolutely! Following your first visit, you may come back for a second visit (free of charge) as long as your bracelet is still on your wrist.

The Village historique acadien’s parking offers many options to welcome visitors travelling with RVs or trailers.

Pets are NOT allowed on the historic site , even on a leash or in a comfortable carriage or bag.

The Acadian Historical Village sells reproductions of antique objects, as well as reproductions created by Village artisans. These products are on sale at the Nicholas D. Thériault general store, as well as at the Boutique du Village, on occasion.

Smoking and/or vaping is not allowed while walking on the historical site. Smoking areas have been clearly designated (for safety reasons) and may be found in front of the Welcome Center, at the Frenette and Poirier post houses, and behind the Château Albert Hotel. Smoking marijuana is prohibited on the historic site.

During its operating season, the Village historique acadien features 4 restaurants.

The Café-Bistro du Village is located in the Visitor Center and is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Family-style, its menu includes comfort foods and a fine range of specialty coffees.

La Table des Ancêtres, located on the historic site, offers a 100% traditional Acadian menu and is open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Relais Frenette, located on the historic site, offers a light and simple snack-type menu, plus various sweets and alcoholic products. The relay is open every day from 10 am to 5:30 pm.

L’Écloserie de Homards, which opened in 2024, is located near the Hôtel Château Albert on the historic site. This brand-new restaurant offers a family menu that includes a lobster guédille on brioche bread that’s well worth the detour!

Picnic tables are available for visitors who wish to bring their own lunch boxes. The tables are located near the main parking lot, as well as throughout the historic site.

Payment by debit/credit card is available everywhere on the site and inside the Welcome Center. here is also an ATM machine located in the entrance of the Welcome Center.

The Village’s total walking distance is 2.2 km.
